Consulting Services
eP's staff is skilled in understanding the application of technology to deliver major improvements in the business processes of its clients. We are experienced professionals with the track record and commitment to deliver breakthroughs in asset performance. eP consultants have wide ranging expertise over most areas relating to the exploitation of hydrocarbon resources. This is illustrated by the range of projects carried out for clients.
Consulting Background
eP provides advanced consultant services to clients all over the world. We offer solutions for wells, fields, and reservoirs. These services range from a single well test analysis project or single well production optimization to delivery of full-field integrated development plans and the technical management of offshore fields. eP employs a host of experienced professional engineers and technicians. The diverse backgrounds of our staff means that the application of advanced technology is accompanied by a solid understanding of the cultural and business context in which it must succeed. Clients include E & P companies (operating and non-operating), service companies, stockbrokers, and banks.
Our range of services includes: production optimization, well data integration, reservoir engineering, field development planning, and reservoir management.

Consulting Services Projects
- Gas-water contact study of a North Sea gas field, as part of an equity re-determination. This involved open and cased hole log interpretation, RFT analysis, appraisal of seismic and geological mapping, and core capillary pressure determination.
- Review of service company-acquired core analysis data in support of a major North Sea field equity determination. Areas of concern and suspect data were identified, then addressed in subsequent reserves estimations and further laboratory testing of core from this field.
- Analysis and interpretation of over 60 well tests for permeability determination for the United Kingdom nuclear industry waste disposal program.
- Analysis and interpretation of over 30 well tests for permeability determination for the United States nuclear industry waste disposal program.
- Design, supervision, analysis, and interpretation of a multi-well test in a North Sea gas field. This involved 3 wells having multi-rate tests, followed by buildups, and a 4th well used as an observation well. This helped to establish gas-in-place, areal heterogeneity, and the level of aquifer support.
- Quantification of the effects of drilling mud type on core electrical (Archie parameter) properties for a UK gas field.
- Several laboratory audits, in which service core analysis companies' procedures and analytical techniques were assessed and evaluated to ensure their data validity and reliability.
- Study of the sensitivity of core flood-derived residual oil saturation and end-point permeability data to different commercial laboratory test techniques and procedures. Recommended procedures were evaluated to ensure to reliable and repeatable core flood data.
- Integrated production logging evaluation and core analysis studies to validate trapped gas saturation in a North Sea gas field after aquifer influx.
- Reconciliation of ambient core permeability measurements and well test permeability data from a highly stress-sensitive and clay-sensitive reservoir was achieved by designing an extremely cost-effective core test program.
- Long term deliverability prediction for gas fields, and determination of appropriate sales gas contracts.
- Review of Field Development Plans submitted by 2 international consortia of oil companies for the giant Karachaganak oil field in Kazakhstan. eP made recommendations to the Kazakhstan government on the technical content and feasibility of each of the development plans.
- Gas condensate fluid modeling and generation of vertical lift curves for a North Sea gas condensate field.
- Volumetric and material balance studies on several North Sea gas fields.
- Model building and history matching of a 4-field (gas) Eclipse reservoir simulation model incorporating surface networks.
- Reservoir simulation of several UK oil and gas fields.
- Preparation of long term development plan for a fractured carbonate reservoir, including fracture modeling, infill wells, and stimulation options.
- Reconciliation of ambient core permeability measurements and well test permeability data from a highly stress-sensitive and clay-sensitive reservoir was achieved by designing an extremely cost-effective core test program.
- Modeling of four offshore fields in the Middle East comprising 38 platforms and 240 gas-lifted wells. Optimization of the currently available gas lift resulted in an average uplift in oil production of 2.4%.
- Modeling of an Australian field comprising 432 on-line producers, the majority of which required artificial lift, including 87 gas lifted wells. Total production was matched to within 0.1% and gas-lift optimization produced a gain of 2.9% of the total oil from the gas-lifted wells.
- Modeling of a North African offshore field of 55 gas lifted oil producers from 9 satellite platforms. Optimized allocation of available lift gas predicted a 4% increase in oil production.
- Choke and gas lift optimization of 40 oil wells in a mature North Sea offshore field, including a design study for a multi-phase underwater subsea booster pump.
