Weatherford has a wide range of experience in the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of data acquired from oil and gas wells. Further details of our strengths in each area may be found in the appropriate individual web pages. Uniquely, compared to other consultancies, Weatherford provides the depth and breadth of expertise in each data type to provide an integrated and validated interpretation.
Effective oil and gas company management investment decisions demand that the data used in well and reservoir evaluation is both reliable and appropriate. Unfortunately, many well data sources are too often reviewed and evaluated in isolation, other data sources may provide conflicting or contradictory interpretations. For example, log analysis data requires core measurements to calibrate or interpret the log response. However, the deficiencies or sensitivities of the core analysis data are overlooked or go unrecognized, so that the validity of the petrophysical interpretation is flawed. Alternatively, if one appropriately interpreted data set validates others, the confidence in each data set is increased.
Weatherford engineers provide the expertise required to assure the reliability and validity of well data and maximize their value in reservoir exploitation and management strategies. We have the multi-disciplinary capability required to address the technical challenges in well data acquisition and interpretation, and its integration with petrophysical and simulation models data. The consultancy expertise which Weatherford can provide has been enhanced by the parallel development of Weatherford PanSystem® and WellFlo® software, and by giving many training courses all over the world. Staff within Weatherford have extensive experience in the following areas:
Quality-assured core data is essential for effective reservoir management decisions. To correctly interpret log and test data, it is very important to incorporate the results of core-derived properties, since the core is the only true representation of the reservoir rock. Weatherford provides an effective and responsive core analysis project management and data interpretation service which ensures our clients benefit from quality assured and "fit for purpose" core data. Weatherford's staff have many years of practical experience in the design, acquisition, and interpretation of core analysis programs, and have presented core analysis training courses throughout the world.
Production Log Analysis
Weatherford has considerable expertise in production logging, including both field acquisition and computer-based production log interpretation. The company has presented production logging training courses for many years. More recently, the production logging software package PLOG has been used in-house for complex interpretations. Weatherford has extensive experience in the interpretation of production logs in horizontal wells.
Well Test Interpretation
Weatherford has the foremost experts in well test analysis in the industry, with many years of practical experience in the analysis and interpretation of well tests. Our consultancy expertise has been enhanced by the parallel development of the PanSystem well test analysis software, which is the world's leading well test analysis package, and by giving many training courses all over the world. In addition, Weatherford engineers have substantial practical experience in the acquisition of well test data, having worked for some of the leading data acquisition companies throughout the world and supervised many tests. In-house expertise in the associated areas of production log analysis, PVT studies, core analysis, and geomechanics integrates all relevant data in the interpretation.
Open-Hole Log Analysis
Weatherford engineers have substantial practical experience in the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of open-hole log data, having worked for some of the leading data acquisition companies throughout the world, and supervised many logging runs. Our particular strengths lie in the integration of open-hole log data with core analysis and wireline formation test data. We have been able to reconcile log data with core data, which before appeared wholly incompatible, through a detailed understanding of the sensitivities of the log and core measurements to reservoir, fluid and rock parameters.
Expert understanding of the pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) properties of hydrocarbons is essential for correct engineering of well test analysis, artificial lift design, reservoir volumetrics, reservoir fluid movement, production log analysis, and inflow performance relationships
Weatherford's expertise in PVT studies has developed through building PVT packages for our ReO®, PanSystem and WellFlo software programs, and therefore can maximize the client's understanding of complex fluid systems. Weatherford will audit PVT data and match flowing well performance to establish appropriate correlations for analysis and design
WireLine Formation Testing
Weatherford has a long history and unique expertise in the analysis of wireline formation test data (WFT). Weatherford engineers have substantial practical experience in the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of WFT data. The company's strengths in WFT interpretation lie in our detailed understanding of the mechanics and sensitivities of the measurements, and in the validation of WFT data with appropriately interpreted core and log data.
