Overview of the sPOD Single Point Digital Gauge

Weatherford’s production optimization group, eProduction Solutions (eP), offers the sPOD single point digital gauge. This instrument is ideal when a single pressure/temperature (P/T) gauge is to be installed in any completion. The basics of design allow the transducer to convert an applied pressure into a change of resistance. The strain of the applied pressure is measured across an active four wire resistive bridge and the temperature is measured from a secondary of the main bridge.

The purpose of the temperature measurement is so that the pressure transducer output can compensate for temperature induced errors (“temperature compensated” for increased pressure accuracy over a broad temperature range).

The gauge is designed specifically to address the demanding environment encountered in permanent monitoring applications. eP’s design incorporates minimal electronics, this decreases infant mortality commonly experienced in other gauge designs.

sPOD gauge usage includes all permanent applications where pressure and temperature data is needed for monitoring, optimization, analysis or control purposes.
