Overview of the Optical Gauge Carrier
Weatherford's optical gauge carrier provides a means for mounting an optical pressure gauge on the completion string and the required mechanical protection to ensure reliable operation of the optical pressure gauge. Configurations of the gauge carrier are available to support above-packer and inter-zonal monitoring requirements as well as single- or dual-gauge configurations for tubing and annulus pressure measurement.
The optical gauge carrier supports control-line bypass for applications requiring chemical injection or for intelligent well configurations, where control lines are required for flow-control valves.
Optical Gauge Carrier Gauge Features, Advantages, and Benefits
- The carrier is machined from one piece of metal (no welds) for added durability.
- Certified, premium connections offer durability and reliability. Metal-to- metal seals between the carrier and gauge further enhance reliability.
- The carrier's body protects the pressure and temperature gauges over their entire lengths, ensuring reliable readings throughout the - - course of operations.
- Streamlined outer diameter saves installation time by eliminating hangups while passing through the riser and blowout preventer.
- Gauge-to-carrier connection simplifies installation by allowing pre- mounting of the downhole cable.
- The carrier's pressure ratings are equal to or greater than those of the completion tubing to support completion integrity.
- Pressure test port saves time by allowing pressure testing before running in the hole.
- Internal diameter is equal to that of the completion tubing, offering full-bore access to completion.
- The carrier can be custom made from various materials for use in different well environments.
