RMS software is highly flexible, scalable data acquisition software that supports Weatherford's production optimization–reservoir monitoring optical sensing and electronic gauge product lines. RMS software is a combination of embedded software implemented on custom electronic subsystems and application software that is executed on field-hardened Intel computers running a Microsoft Windows operating system. The design approach uses high-level components of Weatherford's RMS system for optical sensing systems. A similar architecture supports electronic gauge systems and combined optical sensing and electronic gauge systems.

A two-tier architecture fully enables the separation of the data collection activities from the delivery of the results to the acquisition systems. Embedded software resides on the digital signal processor (DSP) of the optical interrogator. The data collection engine (DCE) running on the instrument computer manages the data acquisition process and schedules signal processing algorithms to compute pressure and temperature. The algorithm manager manages the execution of these calculations. Reliable operation of these devices is ensured by Weatherford Launcher, a design component capable of self-health diagnosis and autonomous failure recovery.

What is new for version 2011?

How does this tool help improve job performance?

Operators
  • Extensive communication networks are used to manage the data obtained from oilfield operations
  • Implemented using COM/DCOM (distributed component object model) technology which enables software components to communicate
  • Enables system administration, maintenance and reliable data access over a local area network or modem
  • Client software utilities support basic configuration and diagnostic tasks from remote locations
Engineers Asset engineers can monitor real-time data produced by remote onshore or offshore installations from their shore-based office using extensible web data viewer clients
